Edmond E. Risien, an amateur horticulturist, settled in San Saba in 1875. He donated the land in which Risien Park is located. The park is located along the banks of the San Saba River, offers facilities for both picnicing and camping.
 Also located on the park grounds are a playscape and a lovely footbridge which leads to a pavilion available for social and family gatherings. Historic sights include the amphitheatre and swimming pool which were part of the park's original design.
